JOSEPH E. COFELICE JOINS CATAMOUNT ENERGY CORPORATION
AS NEW PRESIDENT
RUTLAND, VT Joseph E. Cofelice has joined Catamount Energy Corp. as president. Cofelice was president and CEO of American National Power (ANP) until April 30.
"We are thrilled to have attracted Joe and his family to Vermont. Joe is not only an extremely talented energy executive, but he is also a great person known for his honesty and integrity. The fact that Joe chose to join us is a testament to the progress we are making in building a strong business, and it also speaks highly of the culture and leadership we have to work with at our parent company Central Vermont Public Service," said former Catamount president and CEO James Moore, who will now serve solely as chief executive officer.
ANP grew from a $130 million company in 1994 to a nearly $2.5 billion in 2001, a period when Moore served as CEO and Cofelice COO of that company. Bob Charlebois, another key ANP executive, previously joined the Catamount team as a managing director of business development.
"In adding Bob Charlebois and Joe Cofelice, two of the key members of the team that built ANP, to an already strong team at Catamount, we have created a formidable leadership group at Catamount," Moore said. "With the team now in place and a strategy focused on building a premier wind energy company, our growth prospects beginning late this year or early next year look very promising out to the end of the decade. Now it is all about execution."
Catamount recently entered into two joint ventures to develop wind projects in the United States and the British Isles. With North American Renewables Corp., Catamount formed a new company, New England Windpower, which will develop, own and operate wind projects in New England.
Catamount will partner with force9energy Ltd. of Amersham, England, to develop wind projects in England, Scotland, and Wales. Catamount will fund and manage the venture, which includes an experienced development team headed by David Butterworth, former head of international development for National Wind Power.
Catamount, the independent subsidiary of Central Vermont Public Service (NYSE: CV), has been in the business of providing clean, cost-competitive electricity in the U.S. and Europe for over 15 years. In response to opportunities in the renewable energy sector, Catamount has refocused its strategy toward becoming a developer, owner, and operator of wind energy projects.
