Mark Hill Windfarm Catamount Energy Ltd has submitted an application to the Scottish Executive to build a 28-turbine wind farm at Mark Hill to the north of Barrhill in South Ayreshire, Scotland, that will generate enough electricity for more than 33,000 homes. The Mark Hill site was selected after a lengthy process to identify potential wind farm sites across the UK, taking into account landscape sensitivities as well as planning, environmental and technical criteria. The turbines will be a maximum of 110 meters high to the tip of the blades. In addition to the turbines, the wind farm will consist of a landscaped substation and access tracks. Connection to the national grid will be via an existing 275 kv overhead line that adjoins the site to the west. Mark Hill is being jointly developed by Force
9 Energy and Catamount Energy Ltd (CEL). CEL will be the owner of the
project and is a joint venture between Catamount Energy Corporation
and Statkraft Development AS.
